  1. While I value all posted opinions of this product I strongly disagree with the notion that this product is dumb. For anyone who has waited many long years and not purchased any of the movies until now, or anyone who was hooked later in the series, this set is a real value. All the released movies are bundled neatly together and they don’t consume much space in my movie library because of the slim packaging.

This set is certainly not for the collector as there is no bonus material whatsoever. This is fine for us as we generally never watch the second disc anyway. If you have been waiting to buy or are new to the series and you don’t mind the lack of bonus material this set really makes it easy to start your collection.

If this does not describe what you are looking for then I suggest you do as the other reviewers have suggested and look elsewhere or wait till the complete set releases in several years. For what this product is however (all current movies/no frills), this is a great set.

  2. UPDATE: The price of Harry Potter Years 1-5 was raised back up to $44.99, which is questionable, but means that your best value is this set, Harry Potter Years 1-6. You’re getting all six released Harry Potter films at a very low cost, in packaging that is going to save you space on your shelf. A great gift for any Harry Potter fan who doesn’t have the films yet, or only has one or two.

Harry Potter Years 1-5 can be purchased for $26.49 and Half-Blood Prince can be purchased seperately for $9.99. That’s a grand total of $36.48 for the same films in this gift set (Years 1-6), except it wont cost you $44.99. That’s roughly a $8.00 savings if you don’t buy this set.

  3. This is a great little set for those who only need the films. There are no special features or making of clips on any of the dvds.

What can you say about a set of great movies which are then improved even more by putting them on Blu-ray and packaging all six together? If you purchase the six individual Blu-ray movies, they currently run $105.94 as opposed to the $92.99 for this set. So you not only get top-quality movies, but you save $13.00 in the process. The picture quality and sound quality are superb. As I said, there isn’t much more to say about movies that have been reviewed hundreds of times. As for an erroneous opinion that you are getting ripped off by this set, all I can say is do the math. The 5-pack Blu-ray version sells here for $80.99, not $54.99 (that was the DVD 5-pack which is now down to $49.99), so the difference between the 5-pack and the 6-pack is only is only $12.00. The Half Blood Prince sells individually for $19.49, so, you save $7.49 off the price of the sixth movie by buying this set.

  5. M. Eggerichs says:

The set contains 7 blu-ray discs in 6 cases. The seventh disc, entitled “Disc 2 Special Features” is inside the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” case. The movies themselves are in 1080p HD 16×9. Audio is Dolby TrueHD: 5.1. The special features disk appears to be full screen, still HD (near as I can tell).

    Special Features Disc Include:

“Close-Up with the Cast of Harry Potter” — A series of short videos that cover topics ranging from editing, owl training, special effects, makeup, costume design, artwork and more behind the scene material.

“One-Minute Drills” — Challenges cast member to describe their character roles in the first 6 films in 60 seconds

“First Footage from harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows” — Brief introduction from producer and director with behind the scene footage. As well as a theatrical style preview.

” J. K. Rowling: A Year in the Life” — Documentary style look at J.K. Rowling’s work on the Harry Potter series.

“What’s on your mind?” — An eclectic Q&A session between Tom Felton (Draco) and the cast of Harry Potter.

“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Sneak Peek” — Universal Orland Resort in Florida preview of new Harry Potter themed area.

“Additional Footage”: 8 additional movie scenes

    The box set itself, measures approximately (H x W x D) 6.875″ x 1.5″ x 5.3125″. Each disc case measures approximately (H x W x D) 6.75″ x 0.25″ x 5.3125″. These are ultra thin cases, not the standard blu-ray cases.

Box set price (as of the date of this review) was less then I could purchase the blu-rays for individually (either online or at mortar-and -brick retailer.)
